Since Wendy is the only uber-math expert I know of, I want to know from her and anyone else if they too wince when people address the year with an 'and'. As in, "Two thousand and eight" instead of "two thousand eight". Would you say this is more of a grammar issue than a numerical-related issue? Is it wrong to feel hate in my heart when people add an 'and'? Am I just a nit-picky turd and should lighten the fuck up?

I'm not sure if it's grammar or if it's a math thing, but they always made a big deal in my math methods classes (where you learn to teach others) that you must leave out the "and".

Although I have to say...a LOT of things bug me.  This wasn't one of them.  But now that Scott brought it to my attention I am going to notice it more and it will be added to the list of things that piss me off.  Thanks, Scott.

Sorry to add one to the 'that bugs me list', but yeah, once you start noticing, you can't stop. That's the problem, because it sounds so douchey and nit-picky to point it out to people, but the issue I have with it is that it sounds very unprofessional. So when I'm listening to someone talk, I'll be like, "Yeah, not bad... good job, good job... Aw, man! You ruined it!!"

What bothers me more is when people say "___am in the morning" as opposed to what?......._ _am in the evening?

I feel the same way when someone I've known for a long time & I thought was pretty smart throws out something like "My Savior Jesus Christ..."  I can't stop myself from thinking "Awww...Really?"

The views and opinions expressed in these forums may or may not represent the views of Gabber JaW management, John and Wendy, or Major League Baseball. If you are sensitive to foul language or strong opinions, it is time you lightened up and realized that words are just harmless wind passing out of someone's pie-hole, and in the case of these forums, the harmless words are typed. But anyway, I digress. If you don't like what goes on here, well, I guess you're stuck. You have no free will or choice in not coming here. You must come here everyday and read everybody's post and even if you disagree or are offended, you have to take it like a man. If you are a woman, than you should still take it like a man, which I guess would be up the butt then. Whatever. Why the hell are you still reading this?
